For my staged vignettes, I used a doll (also a piggy bank ;]) that I still have from when I was little. I shot it with harsh, direct light to put emphasis on her different features. I shot her entirely as well as zooming up on her eyes, and on the piggy bank, keeping in mind the rule of thirds. In Photoshop, I had to adjust the white balance because some pictures were too red or orange. Then I used curves to apply the cross process effect, and changed the brightness and contrast to make it more dramatic.
