3 Things Learned:
- JR used black and white with color to create contrast
- JR used different lighting (day, night, sunset) to create effect/tone
- JR used different perspectives (close-up, far away, bird's and worm's eye views)
2 Things Inspiring:
- I liked how JR's pictures were very raw and honest, something I want to emulate with my pictures.
- It didn't seem that JR editted his prints a lot. He kept them how they naturally were.
1 Idea:
- Distorted Perception-People holding dry erase boards with one word that they think describes them but clearly doesn't--commentary on society's role in our self-esteem-- (in public, with people's reactions).
- Why: I think self-esteem and self-perception are heavily influenced by what society thinks is good, trendy, cool, etc. Many people don't see the beauty or goodness in themselves because of what society and the media say; they often have skiewed perceptions, and I want to address this.
